San Francisco - li' help?

Post by porge »

Fellow Forumites,

I'll never cease to be amazed at how forumites go out of their way to help - I've been the recipient of help in the past, most lately from the Amazing Mike G picking up a 360/12FGVP for me (Mike G rocks). I know that at some point soon karma will call on me to do something, and I'll step up gladly for a forumite.

But...I had an intriguing offer last night (a couple of them, but only one I'll share )

Had an academic friend stop by my office and ask "Hey - you're always buying guitars...I'm in SF in 2 weeks...can I lug one back for you?"

Although I don't have anything bought yet (I stress yet!), I'm really tempted to take up this offer. He lives around the corner from my house, and we have beers on our deck on a frequent basis, so it would be even easier than having something posted to me. He's doing a conference, then a drive to Yosemite, then home. Travelling light, so to speak.

So...does any SF based forumite fancy having a guitar turn up at their house? Thsi would be followed by an Aussie scholar picking it up. I'm tempted to get another Gretsch (I'm bidding on a '67 CG at present), or another 360/12 for the cohort, so you may have a couple of weeks of playing osmething you might not ordinarily plunk on. If there were any expenses, I'd gladly reimburse. I'd also be happy to schlep a guitar over on my next trip (again...November at the moment)...that's if anything in Oz looks good to you.

Again...just putting this out there for the moment.

Best of luck Andrew, hope you find something for your buddy to bring back for you!
I, as well, have benefitted from the awesome bonding that this forum breeds! It seems that nothing is too large or too small for these guys! 2010 seems like the ideal time to repay some favors when we hope to have many of the forumites visiting downunder! "OZrick2010"....be there!

BTW - I did find a sweet looking ES-347...tempted. Really tempted. Wrong forum, me thinks however :D :P

One thing that I think is amazing about the forum is the trust. I mean, Mike G paid for the 360/12VP before I sent him the money. Likewise, I know any guitar of mine is safe in a forumites hands.
