These are five from my eight basses....just a nice family picture LOL.
From left to right: 2003 Ric 4003FG, Epiphone 30.5" Flying V, Epiphone Expert 6 string, a Dutch build Catalyst Tigris (made from carbonfibre and ceramic-soundcompound - www.catalyst.com for the whole story) and my japanese Fender Steve Harris/Iron Maiden P-Bass.
I thought this makes a nice picture!!!!
Beside owning 14 guitars and basses and my own homestudio, what do I want more?
Nice basses, Robin! I only have three myself, a nice looking RIC 4004L for show and a couple of cheap import basses to fend off the poison darts that people sling at me. It takes one for each hand to pull off the last stunt.
Where stands the MIJ for? The P-bass looks good!!! Of course the Ric too, but that speaks for itself LOL. I also have another P-Bass from Squier. That was modificated a long time ago into P/J configuration with Seymour Duncan Vintage Picks, a Candy Apple Red paint job and a mother of the pearl scratchplate. When the fretwork was going bad, I took a big step of removing with care, filled the fret slots, and aplied cellulose laquer on the fretboard. Then cut the nut at the good height and voila a fretless bass in Jaco style....LOL. Beside that "hidden" one I have another fretless wich belonged to my father - my mother gave it to me when my father passed away two years ago. The icing on the basscake is a 24" (Les Paul scale basicly) minibass or picollo bass by Samick. Not super in quality (was like $ 175,=), but so much fun to play, and to rehearse difficult parts for the first time.

But first I have to get some gear for my home studio, then an P.A. system, and also a few RICs if I can put my hands on them (4003/S8, 4003/S5, and a few others too...).
Yes that's the one.....I've been thinking of buying it too. But as I have the Catalyst Tigris already, which is sort of a super Jazzbass, it's hard to decide.
I'm thinking of selling my Peavey 4 x 10" cab, and get a Mesa Powerhouse 2 x 15". It will sound more complete, as I have a Mesa Powerhouse 2 x 10" already and an Eden WT-300.
As for homestudio's: get your eyes on a Roland 2480CD. It has 16 track simultanious recording tracks, 24 at mixdown and added 16 inputs for mixing midi-gear/re-amped signals at the same time. With an added RPC-1 PCI card, PC's or Mac's can run audio/midi in sync with a 2480CD. Factory standard it has two FX processors, and another six can be added. Nowadays you can buy a new 2480 for around 4750 US $. The nice thing about them is that they run super stabile, but allow you to edit computerlike with a mouse, keyboard and VGA screen. I have this beauty for a year now, and it never crashed in any way. Before that I used Cubase VST and later on Nuendo, but what a hell.......

Well, I'm also fed up with that computer-based super-studios, on which you spend more time making tech than playing.
I decided on the Boss BR-864. I looked at the specs, asked advices from friends, and that's exactly what I need. I have all I need around (preamps, synths, etc.). I just need a small digital box with a few tracks, to record my music in the simplest way I can. After recording and mixing, I'll just use WaveLab on my PC for mastering. That's enough for my needs. I'm a "less is more" guy.
I have a nice little workshop in my basement ... I don't refin wood ... I leave that to experts ... I was dissapointed by my attempts ... I don't refret ... but I do drill holes, use my router, make nuts, change pickups ... etc ... I buy necks, bodies, pickguards, electronics ... etc ... and assemble them ... I restore and repair Rics ...
here's some more of my toys ...

Jeff, do you use Warmoth (wood)parts to build your F-style basses from? And what brands of hardware? I've been thinking about the Geddy Lee Jazzbass, but for the same amount of money, I rather build myself a jazzbass from Warmoth. I handy with making nuts also, as well as customizing and minor repairs. Also setups of both guitars and basses is no problem for me.
Most of the time it gives more satisfaction to do it my self, I spend more time and effort on it, but the result was always better then setups in a shop. This does not goes only for instruments: I restored and rebuild an old Kawasaki GPZ600R a few years ago, and my baby turns 18 next summer. Let me tell you this: no one lays a hand on this baby; I do everything myself, and I have all the tools(of the trade LOL).
BTW: are the guys who do the woodwork on guitars also "body"-Builders? LOL just joling.......
