Ferraro's in Long Beach, the newer one with the bakery/cafe, on Wardlow and Los Coyotes. The only reason I knew about this was a former roommate of mine, who's a Yankees fan, worked there and clued me in.mgauction wrote:Where is that, Paul? Since I'm originally a Long Beach guy.
Re: Go Sox!!
Steinbrenner has been a jerk for as long as I can remember, I don't know how any player could play for him. How would you like to play in a band owned by him.

Re: Go Sox!!
Well I thought that was a good game tonight, I thought we were might lose there for a while. This team shows it's good though like the 04 team did by standing up to threats and digging a little deeper. I felt bad for the Rockies and their fans near the end of the game with one strike left as the cameras were showing the fans and players all looking dejected. I know what it is like from watching the Red Sox for thirty years come close and lose, come close and lose. They hadn't won a world series since 1918 before the 04 win. Used to call it the curse of the Bambino. There were a lot of jokes about the Sox: Hey did you hear they're moving to The Phillipines?
No, I didn't.
Yeah, they going to change the name of the team to the Manilla Folders. haha!
Yes, I know what it is like to lose. I don't understand all this hatred of the Sox and their fans, I'm a fair weather fan myself, many of us are, that comes from years of losing all the time, you get to the point where you can't take it anymore, then you become apathetic. The real Fenway faithful are among the best and most knowledgable fans anywhere though, I have seen them appreciating and clapping for other teams and players many times. (not the Yankees though

Re: Go Sox!!
I usually try to maintain some decency at Fenway when I go there to see the Sox. I have seen some Sox fans be outright rude (like earlier this year when Barry Bonds was in town, and they actually had to stop the game because of the crowd reaction), but I tend to be a spectator in those situations. Good baseball is good baseball, no matter who the opposing team is, and that's the reason I like going to Fenway. But I think the real reason that it's tougher for the Yankees at Fenway is because of Steinbrenner's statement of (I'm paraphrasing) "The Red Sox will never win a World Series under my watch". The arrogance and entitlement of that statement is something I can't fit in my head, because it assumes that there are *no other teams in baseball that the Yankees would have to worry about*. Which, of course, is simply not true. There are other teams that are just as threatening to the Yankees, and the Red Sox. I think that's where the bulk of the animosity comes from. On top of that, you have A-Rod's "on field meltdowns", whether it's picking a fight with Bronson Arroyo, knocking the baseball out of his hands, or plowing over Dustin Pedroia. However, having said that, I think that Derek Jeter is a class act (although overrated as a ball player), and I think that the Yankees players and the Red Sox players get along fine, for the most part.rictified wrote:The real Fenway faithful are among the best and most knowledgable fans anywhere though, I have seen them appreciating and clapping for other teams and players many times. I guess in the end, arrogance at the top can (and often does) trickle down through an organization. And the bigger your head is, the harder you fall. The Yankees have about 3-4 seasons ahead of them where they need to focus on rebuilding the team. I hope the Yankees fans have the patience for it.
Rock on, Sox.

Looking good for the Sox now! I'd love to see Lester close it out tonight. That would be a great story for him.

Bonds deserved all he got and hopefully will get in the future (banned) IMHOlionheart wrote:I usually try to maintain some decency at Fenway when I go there to see the Sox. Rock on, Sox.
The Sox-Yankee feud hs been going on for decades long before Steinbrenner fanned it. Whom cares about the Yankees and Cheatman, they're both cooling their heels at home watching the series.

Re: Go Sox!!
These Sox continue to impress me with the resilience and ability to come through in the clutch. Not just Ortiz or Manny anymore. Amazing how much better they have played when the season is on the line. If Lester can pitch as he's capable of tonight the champagne will be flowing all over Coors field.
Re: Go Sox!!
It's just a matter of time now. The Red Sox have shown great team play on all levels - just another example of a team that is in the midst of playing hot. The eight day break for the Rockies ruined them. Too bad. They were on an awesome run and could have proved a better showing. If not tonight, then the Rockies have to face Beckett & Schilling all over again.

Re: Go Sox!!
Yup, and they did it, didn't think I'd see it for another 86 years. I am now a believer. I am amazed at how they rose to the occasion, the 04 Sox were the same, that is the sign of a great team to me.janglerocker wrote:These Sox continue to impress me with the resilience and ability to come through in the clutch. I'm still amazed at how few Sox fans there are here though.
