More Ray Davies

Post by dedicated_follower »

The last week and a half have been a real treat for Ray Davies fans. Eight days ago (on Sunday) I was up quite early to go to the local newsagents. Ray's new album (10 out of 12 of the tracks anyway) was being given away with the Sunday Times. I do not normally buy Sunday papers, but as it had Ray's album I couldn't miss it.
All week I have played it and enjoyed yet more great music from the great man. He has given me so much pleasure in my life, through his writing and the music he plays.
Also, over the last week or so the BBC TV Electric Proms have been in progress. They culminated on Saturday night with Ray Davies giving a 1 hour and 45 minute concert. I watched a half hour of highlights at about midnight on Saturday and a slghtly extended highlights on Sky via the "red button" this morning.
Finally, tonight, I watched the entire concert, online, at the BBC site. If you want to enjoy it as well, please go to this link and enjoy.

The whole week sounds really cool for Ray Davies fans, among whom I'd count myself, but did he have to wear TRAINERS onstage for the concert?!

He often does, but I must confess he didn't at the Electric Proms. This is a photo from earlier in the year when I went to see him in Gateshead. Anyway, trainers or not its the music that counts. Here is one from the Proms.

The music is the most imprtant, but it wasn't very dedicated follower of fashion-ish for him to wear the trainers
