Jean:

Geddy used the Ric for Red Barchetta ... he said so in an interview ... Also if you are thinking about getting one of those Geddy fender basses play it first ... every single one that I have played in the music store was substandard ... the american and mexican jazz basses seemed better ...

Also you can get the Geddy sound without the bass cut capaciter ... the bass cut capaciter was introduced in a time when bass players used flat wound strings and played through 50 watt bass amps ... in other words it was very hard to get a treble sound and a bass sound out of a bass ... the strings had no bite and the amps had no overhead ...

Henri,
To install the .0047 mfd cap, you replace the wire between the toggle switch and the treble volume pot with one.
Try it to see if you like the result. The mod is reversable anyway.

It's amazing what the Rick-O-Sound boxes are going for on ebay /http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2577728181&category=41439 You can still buy them from the factory for what,,$70.
