Thanks a lot Jeff! That's what I needed.

Chris, thank you. I keep reminding myself waiting a week is a lot easier than waiting 2 years or longer.

Nice bass! Love the character of the wood and that ambered MG finish.

Install a toaster neck pickup and vintage control knobs, John. You'll get looking that much closer to Jeffrey's!

Please excuse my ignorance, i have been away for a while.
How does one steal a bass out of the factory? Wouldn't somebody notice somebody taking a bass out of
the factory?

Mike, JH has confirmed some unstamped jackplates made it out of the factory back in the 70s, and lately someone we have discussed has been selling them on eBay.

I must apologize for being so late to the party John!

CONGRATULATIONS!

WOW, it sure looks sweet! Very much like my 74 MG. Beautiful!

Sounds like it has some of the same issues.

Here is the link where Dane gave me the information on what stuff to get to make the wiring more period correct....

http://www.rickresource.com/phpBB3/view ... 2&t=377548

I ordered the correct caps and pots.

To boot, I ordered a complete wiring harness with the VTC pot from RIC. They didn't have the standard wiring harness in stock.

I THINK I have found out what is causing the problems with the wiring. I may have some spare parts if you need for yours John, so keep in touch! If I can get my wiring situation worked out, you can have the caps & pots I don't use! I THINK I ordered extra's, they haven't arrived yet!

Aha! Found it!

Congratulations! Very nice looking 4001, John. Is that a plexi TRC? That'd have to make this a '75 if original, right?

Thanks for the kind offer Tony!

John, yes that is a plexi TRC. Joey placed it as late 1975 or very early 1976.

Thanks to both of you - I love you guys! :D

Oh, John, I spent my midday stripping the 4004C and rubbing a lot of oil into all the wood. From the look after, it was time. Also, the neck was always very playable, but I had to have a lot of tension on one and not much on the other. I pulled the rods and both were very "C" shaped. I straightened them almost flat (slight curve) and when it was all back together, with Chromes (.100) on, the neck is flat and both rods with slight tension on them, so the neck is naturally straight.
