I allowed my luthier to install TIs JF344 on my V63 and on the JB... I had expected the luthier to loosen the TR on the V63 which had the factory RW rickenbacker strings, but the luthier said he didn't need to... so not much difference in tension between the old and the new strings despite what I had read here and there :?

Anyway I had a few minutes to play just the V63 and not the JB

let our ears to decide about the tone :lol:

yes, although flat strings affect a little bit the sustain (and of course the brightness) you still need the mute for the pepper/mmt etc. songs

My TIs have red silk wrapings, but I can't see that yours do. Am I just missing it, or do yours not have the red silk wrapings?

My TIs have the same red silk wrappings...maybe the quality of the video does not allow you to notice :)
