Ohmigosh, I did not have a clue that it was you who was bidding, Paul! I am sorrybassduke49 wrote:Good grab, Elys. You nipped it from me at the last second. I had gone to $1777. What's your plan to restore it?
I was planning to make this my first refin done entirely myself (with a little coaching from PW of course!), and probably take it to eggplant burgundy (unless I can find an original finish color someplace under that awful silver flake or unless it has unexpectedly-amazing maple figuring that I doubt I will find). I think it is a late-72, so I already have a 72 notched tailpiece here that is period-correct, a spare wiring harness from Sept 72 that should be period correct and the right pickups too. It already has correct wavy Grovers, so except for having the right-era jackplate I can take it back to either original or a good correct BG.
I have some spare authentic Rick 70s jackplates, so at least I could get it back to the 1970s, but not 72. Of course, it would become a nice player, since it can never have the original value it once had before that awful Harley-tank paintjob.....
