Pickup Adjustment Info On Rickenbacker Website

Post by rickless »

Check out this webpage from rickenbacker.com on adjusting pickups.

http://www.rickenbacker.com/us/pickups.htm

At the bottom of the page it describes adjusting the neck pickup height on 4000 models, yet the picture and description seem to be refering to the bridge pickup. Is this an error on their webpage or am I misunderstanding? So which pickup (neck or bridge) on the 4003's requires opposite turning from most other pickups (clockwise for raising pickup, etc.)?

I've done it a hundred times and can't remember which way the treble pickup screws are turned to raise it, I know the bass pickup is turned clock wise to raise it as the manual says, I think the treble pickup also raises clockwise but after reading this I'm not sure.
I think referring to the bass pickup beside the picture of the treble pickup was just the way the page got laid out.

It is correct, as you are turning clockwise to raise the treble PU. The counterclockwise turning refers to the pickups that are mounted with grommets or foam, so to raise them you want to turn the screws ccw as then you are uncompressing the grommets or foam to raise the PU.
