Cord Color (Silver or Black?) of Ric-O-Sound Kit

Post by rickless »

Is the cord which is mounted to the box of the Ric-O-Sound kit available in black directly from Rickenbacker? That auction previously mentioned that had a kit go for way more than a new kit from Rickenbacker had a black cord, but the cord shown on Ric's website shows the cord being silver which to me is just terribly ugly. Is black available? (much more desireable) If a black Ric-O-Sound cord isn't available from Rickenbacker, maybe that's why that auction went so high.

I ordered one from the factory around 1999 or 2000 (if memory serves) and both cables were black. I'm sure an e-mail to [email protected] or [email protected] would give the answer for sure.

I ordered one last year and both cords are black. I think they discontinued the silver cords.

It's an old photo. The cords have been black for at least 10 years. Actually, they were more like metallic gray in the past rather than silver, about the same shade that's stylish on hi fi gear now. Maybe we should revert back!

My '78 ROS kit has a metallic gray cable. The box is also riveted shut. I've seen them with screws, but I don't know when they were changed.
