Too weird!! I'm reading these posts, seeing Amazon has shipped and I'm wondering why I haven't been notified--go to my account, and can't even find the order!! As I'm trying to figure out what's going on, all of a sudden I hear ) "THWWPPPT!! Message for you sir!" (my new mail notification from Holy Grail :D ..sure enough, item has been shipped!

Very cool....started out the day with delivery of my new Telecaster, and now this. Still looking forward to Rob's #3 DVD! I'm liking Nov a LOT!!!!

Made it to my local album/CD/music store at 12:30 in the afternoon today...HMV off of Bloor Street in downtown Toronto...and bought one of those hefty Help! packages. Hefty in price and in weight.

The clerk informed me that their store was only alloted 15 copies of the Help! boxset, and when they were gone, that would be it. After I purchased mine, they had six left.

And yes, I still shop at an album/CD/music store. Still love to look through the racks, even in this day-and-age of downloading. While CD audio is far from the best, it's still better than the standard mp3, so I still cling stubbornly to my CD player when I'm on the subway to-and-from work.

As for the Beatles' boxset, it looks fine. Kinda wish they could have also packaged both the British and American versions of the Help! album in this set, but then we all probably woulda have to shell out an extra 40 bucks.

I already had Help! on DVD; first DVD I ever bought back in the summer of 2000, even before I had a DVD player...but I'm looking forward to this.

This was always my favourite Beatles' movie, as I taped it off a Watertown, New York television station back in 1976, on my trusty old Consumer's Distributing mono tape recorder, thus I could play it back over and over and over and over again, until I practically memorized all the dialogue....which means it's a delight to read along to the reproduction of the script.

It's been shown on cable a lot lately, I watched it Sat. morning. Haven't seen it since god knows when, very enjoyable. But John's summation was pretty right on..."We were like extras in our own movie".

I (pre) bought a deluxe version from Amazon, then I get an email from Amazon saying they had an issue with my credit card (wrong expiration date) so I re-ordered. Now it appears I have two deluxe sets coming!

Got my standard version today from Amazon. It is still in the wrapper for now.

Disk 2 features a 30 minute documentary on the making of Help!, the restoration process, and other stuff.

Mine just came...worth the wait! Nice goodies in the deluxe ed, the poster will find a place in my music room!

Interesting Dick Lester Double Feature for me today...by happenstance, "How I Won The War" was on cable earlier....lot's of similarities in the movies.

Okay, has anyone else experience this when they put on their fancy new DVD of Help! (And, yes, I shelled out for the expensive version).

It appears to be saturated in green tones. I have a rather nice 32 inch LCD TV, and there's no issue with tone balance when I watch any other DVD, or regular TV, or HDTV. But I had to adjust the tone levels in order to acheive some sort of
proper colour balance when watching Help! the other night.

Then, I brought out my MPI DVD version of Help! I bought back around 2000, and while it still appeared kinda greenish in parts, it looked better. Not a ton better, but I cracked up when I flipped through the special features that were available on that release. They touted the cleaned-up negative and basically all the same stuff that's on the new version.

Anyone else experience any of this, or do I truly need help?

...not having this prob, have a 37" Sharp Aquos and also have the MPI release, just got the deluxe version yesterday and noticed right away that
this new version is _far_ superior in video quality than the MPI DVD.

If you have dolby/dts surround, the sound is amazing as well, the MPI is Dolby 5.1, but really only the music, everything else just comes through
the center channel ...with this new release, not only is the audio quality better, they also separated the dialog, backing music, etc., to separate 5.1
channels ...i wasn't expecting this and it sounds terrific :)

The poster and cards look as i remember them displayed outside the theatre :) The script is cool...the deluxe package is much bigger than i thought
it would be ...my only disappointment with this package is the "deleted scence" chapter ...is just stills, no footage. But overall really worth it. :)

Yup, a shame about the deleted scene nothing being available, but I'll take the crumbs.

Appears that I corrected the colour problem I was experiencing. And YES, it looks fantastic!

A number of movie theatres here in Canada are showing Help! one-time-only on Monday, November 26th.
The wife & I are going.

For those of you who purchased the DELUXE edition,...does the poster come in a tube or folded? Seems a waste if it has fold creases! It's on my Christmas wishlist!!! :D

Greg,

Folded. Didn't keep me from mounting mine in the music room though!

All of the movie posters until relatively recently were folded to be shipped to theaters by the distributors. As such, creases were "standard equipment".

Thanks Bill, i'm sure mine, when purchased, will also end up framed on the musicroom/office wall!
Excellent point Matthew, "standard issue" works for me!
