MEASURE YOUR GIRTH

Re: MEASURE YOUR GIRTH
But remember, the 4004s may have a wider neck, but a smaller front to back measurement, thus the same girth as the 4001/3, it looks. One still needs to like/be able to play that wider board though. I will measure mine when I get home and see how it fits in.
Re: MEASURE YOUR GIRTH
Mine was definitely not thin front to back!
Re: MEASURE YOUR GIRTH
Well than maybe it is just the 4004C models? If we get other 4004L or 4004Cii measurements, we would know.
Dag! LeAnn Rhymes was just really cookin' on Letterman! No Rick content but what a song and what pipes! Sort of a Cajun song on steroids.

Re: MEASURE YOUR GIRTH
I'll add my other 4004L tomorrow when I get it back! There is only about 3 months separating both my 4004's so it will be interesting to see if there is any difference from not only the same year but within just a few month for the same model!
Re: MEASURE YOUR GIRTH
I measured my four basses today but when comparing the data they looked suspect (the 2004 4003 measurements were a bit smaller than those on the table I took before), so I will remeasure and make sure I had the correct 3rd and 12th frets.
Re: MEASURE YOUR GIRTH
Ok my June '93 Laredo has exactly the same dimensions as my March '93 cheyenne:
1st 11.4
3rd 11.8
12th 13.4
1st 11.4
3rd 11.8
12th 13.4

Funny thing I noticed when I was doing this, the WEIGHT varied a bit from bass to bass. I also made good use of this time and jotted down all my serial numbers......and now I'm off to Register them.

Re: MEASURE YOUR GIRTH
LOL, forgot to mention the "*" means that these basses were posted already.rickaddict wrote:Cool. More data! Thanks, Tony.

I was compliing this information in my Notepad (because the FIRST time I did it on the forum, and I hit backspace in error) and LOST all the information I was posting DIRECTLY onto the thread!
You would THINK I would learn, and jot them down on paper, NOooooooooo. SO, when I cut and pasted the information form the notepad, I MISSED the DCM and didn't save my work!
I just have to walk away from the computer for a bit!
Re: MEASURE YOUR GIRTH

I just received my V63 back from Dale Fortune. He slimmed the neck down to my '74 4000 specification (actually a little thinner).
1rst fret 11.3 (was 11.7)
3rd fret 11.6
5th fret 11.9
12th 13.1

Re: MEASURE YOUR GIRTH
Thanks for the info, Steve. I'll have to update the data pile one of these days when I'm not so darned busy!
Sounds like your 89's have nice, small necks. Among the smallest! And what else I like about those late 80's Ricks is: A) They sound great (loud, beefy and clear), and B) The truss rods work. YOU pick your strings and adjust the neck accordingly.

Re: MEASURE YOUR GIRTH
Thanks, Steve. I have added your measurements to my Excel database. Again, for those without Excel or Office Windows, Microsoft has a free viewer.
