I think it was the pose next to the cut out in the red dress that gave the appearance of a Jdog hitting the wall.. us old folks pride ourselves on our staying power if nothing else.. besides take it from us if you duck out early you set yourself up as a huge target... (that ones a free life lesson... )

Well, lucky for me, I was surrouned by a good group of people - otherwise, I might still be trying to scrub the obscenity written in lipstick off of my face!

True - everyone can vouch for that. JB went from 0 to 60 in 2.3 seconds and hung like a pro!

Oh YES, Sharpie for sure!

On a hunting trip I went on a LONG time ago (not to worry, the only thing we killed was bottles) we were all warned "the first one to pass out get MARKED". This concept was new to me, but I didn't want to find out what it was all about.

There was this NASTY bald fellow who kept slinging slurs at my ancestors nationality.....I was SO happy when he was the first one to pass out, and the guys handed ME the marker.

What better canvas than a bald head and a nasty person? He made a GREAT peni*. The testi*** were big black circles on his neck! My artwork proceeded to the top of his head where he sported a huge, circumcised............you get the idea. The BEST part was that there was NO running water (hence, no bathroom or mirrors) up in the mountains. When we returned to the bar that night, the howles were priceless!

Oh youth....I'm glad I don't do that kind of stuff anymore!

Jdog.........

I woke up this moring thinking that Dave and Lisa Pascoe invited some forumites including Diane and I to the party weekend of the century...but Diane thought that she had the same dream. Than we realize that it really happened, WOW!! Though, I would have liked to omit the part of the dream where I almost got eaten by 3 dogs at the music shop!!
It was great being with John B, John K, John S, Alison, Graham, Dave, Lisa and great surprise, Trotty!! :D
It was a pleasure to meet John Simmons very nice girlfriend, Kathy. It was also a pleasure to meet Dave's bandmates and friends, especially Scott, a really great guy. It was cool seeing how nice everyone looked, dressed up for the Gala on Fiday night.
I can't thank Dave and Lisa enough for their warm hospitality, great food, wine, beer, super parties, sharing this experience with some great forum members and also for their friendship. What a feeling to play "Blood And Roses" with Pat DiNizio, I can't explain how great that was. The whole time I was playing, I was thinking that I can't believe I'm doing this!!
John K, thanks for the ride to PHL!
I have so much more to say about how great this event was. I will post some pics tonight after I get home from work.
Dave and Lisa, you guys rock, thanks a million!!! :D

Some of us did manage to pick up some goodies while there. I picked up this non-Rick-but-still-cool late 50's/early 60's Danelectro Convertible for under $100 at the Murderbar----err, Tinicum Guitar Barn:

And to answer one of the most widely-asked questions of the weekend:

Why yes, I do!

Thanks. Tammy!! :D
Details? First I must say that Dave and Lisa can write a best selling book on how to invite friends into your home and make them feel as comfortable, welcome in-place as they are in their own home. Their generosity is enormous as their friendship and warmth is for real. Just for that alone, I can't thank Dave and Lisa enough.
The rest might be a little long winded, but I'm making up for lost time posting (I decided to take few days break from computers) and Tammy wants details!
The first night, after picking us up from PHL, Dave gave us a little tour of downtown Philly including the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, etc. Then we went to this Asian-Fusion restaurant called Budokan. One of the dishes we had was called The Angry Lobster, no doubt the best Lobster meal I've ever had. Diane ordered a shrimp dish that I can't remember the name of but I never had shrimp like that, it was awesome! We were disappointed that Lisa could not join us, she had to work late that night. After restaurant we walked around Philly a bit more. Saw some building that have been around since the late 1600's, very cool! Then we went back to Dave's beautiful home, warmly greeted by Lisa. There was a stack of Trottcicles as I am holding up in my avatar on the coffee table. We had a great time talking and laughing the rest of the evening.
The next day, the four of us went to breakfast at a 50's style diner. I can't remember the side dish that came with my breakfast, but it looked like meat-cake...and a flat one at that. It tasted pretty good though! Then Lisa went home to take care of a few things as Dave showed Diane and I some of the quite, pretty country side, places that he calls his happy places. Then we went back to his house and John K. and Jdog had arrived, their turn to morph into Trott-face for a picture! At some point later that afternoon, Lisa couldn't hold her surprise to Diane and I any longer, she had to tell someone that Trotty was indeed coming and he'd come with John B! I had the suspicion that he was coming from how he worded his email to me last Tuesday.
As we went into the evening, guests started to arrive to the party. Jdog was at the piano for the beginning of the party. Awesome job J!! John S came with Kathy, Graham and Alison arrived, then John B arrived, seemingly alone. A while later we hear drumming coming from the basement. Dave knew it wasn't his bands drummer as his drummer was in the kitchen area. Dave runs down the stairs to see what ******* is playing the drums...SURPRISE, it's Trotty!! :D
A bit later Pat DiNizio came. He was very personable and friendly, gave no one an "I''m a rock star" attitude. He fit right in the paisans too. He loved the homemade sopresata and fresh Italian bread that Dave's friend, Frank made. For those who have no idea what sopresata is, it's a type of Italian dried sausage. Then Pat did his acoustic set. It was great. I sat on the floor, I was the closest one to him, I had to get in all I could! :D After that was over, he took a short break and then we all went down to the Rick Vault so Dave's band could play Smithereens tunes with Pat. Dave's band in excellent, so it really sounded great! Then I got to play bass on "Blood And Roses", the last song of the night. After we finished playing I went over to Pat to give him a handshake...he gave me a hug and a kiss!! Pat hung around and socialized for a while after the playing was over. We partied till I don't know what time it was before we went to bed!!
The next day (Friday) we got up early anyway, had breakfast, then helped Dave get his band equipment ready for the night. We packed it up in the U-Haul he rented and John K's van. We set up his gear at the hall where the Rick-Prom was. The actual reason for this event really hits home for for Diane and I as we lost close loved ones to cancer, including my father, grandmother, aunt, both of Diane's parents, one of her aunts and a close call with one of her brothers. We think his was caught in time, at least we hope so. Our Rick Prom ladies looked beautiful, the guys looked pretty dapper! I was amazed at how much the muffins went for !! Not surprised that the RIC 650 fetched the highest bid of the evening. We had a great time at the Gala. In the mens room, JB told me that he thought he'd be the first RIC casualty of the night. He said "They just keep refilling my wine glass and I keep drinking it"! LOL Hence the pics posted of him...but he got right up after the cat nap and sang backing vocals with the band. After it was over, we helped Dave break down the gear and pack the vans. Then we got back to Dave's and Dave asks "Who's hungry?" Immediately, his friend Scott says "I am!!" Diane was all ready to go to bed. I told her we were all going out to a diner. She was like...HUH, WHAT?!? Tired, with a good amount of wine in her, she changed her clothes and went along. She woke up as she ate her soup. Again, we went to bed at ??? time and got up early again the next morning. Lisa stayed up all night as she had to leave to go to Florida at 5 in the morning.
Saturday, we had breakfast, sat around talking about guitars and about taking a trip to some music store. Then we had fun jamming for quite a while in the Rick Vault. Then Dave got us two types of Philly cheese steak sandwiches and pizza for lunch...great stuff!! Then on to the M*rd*r B*rn music store. There were no Ricks there, but I saw a nice '76 Jazz Bass. Now I'm not a big fan of F*nd*r instruments, especially not J-basses, but it had all the original parts and case for a good price and it had no deadspots on the neck, not even the usual D note on the first string, seventh fret. They didn't take credit cards and I didn't have enough cash on me. I was trying to Paypal them on JB's I-phone, but it just wasn't happening. I kept getting an error. Graham offered to spot me the cash but I felt funny taking that much money from someone at once and besides, the lady at the store offered to take me to their home across the yard to use their computer. As I started to get through the yard, their dogs, Cujo 1, 2 and 3 almost had me for dinner. I started to hear the song "Pet Cemetery in my head!!! I got outta there quick!!
John S's girlfriend, Kathy asks me " You think something is trying to tell you not to buy this bass?" I said, "YEAH!!" JB got a cool early Danelectro that you see in the pics. Other than that, a serious creep factor set in for me!! After we got back to Dave's, he took us all to an great Italian restaurant, he brought along some great wines. Kathy almost had me die laughing by telling me about her Uncle Toots.
Sunday we got up early to spend as much of the remaining time we could with each other. We had breakfast, talked about guitars and stuff. Time to say goodbye. Trotty finally "got me" with the goodbye. Then John K gave Jdog, Diane and I, a ride to PHL I almost left with keys to LIsa's car!!
We would do this weekend all over again if we could!!! Thanks again to Dave and Lisa and thanks to everyone else who was there and thanks to my new paisan, Pat DiNizio!! :D 8)

Pics to follow, once I resize them...
