I emailed Roger Mcguinn about the 8 miles high solos and he tells me that they were recorded live one one track with no edits. Cool. Rob Asford.

He did a part of that solo again on his Back From Rio album, in this Talking on the car phone song or whatever it's name was...anybody heard it?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Yes. The song is called "Car Phone" and it contains snippets of the Byrds' "So You Want To Be A Rock 'N' Roll Star" and "Eight Miles High" guitar solos, as well as a brief "quote" from the Beatles' "A Day In The Life" ("He blew his mind out in a car") toward the end of the song.
