I could get onboard that new MID color - really sharp! Reminds me of looking through the telescope and how the sky really isn't black, but deep blue.

Don, hard to tell in the pics but it doesn't appear deep blue to me on my screen. Huh, interesting.

You are right John. My pictures are not the greatest. I don't have the right lighting to photograph it right. It is hard to photograph any guitar as we saw with the DCM. It has been cloudy all day today and I could not shoot it outside. I took it to a well respected store (and Ric dealer)today and the owner agreed that Dark Slate Gray (DSG) would be the color. There was no doubt in his mind. It was not jetglo.

Well, to satisfy your curiosity, and get a meaningful answer, you could call Kenny at the factory or message him or Eric from this board. We'd all be interested in the answer.

Oh, and I was not disparaging your pictures, just quantifying my evaluation.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I was in Buffalo Brothers today in California and they have a 4003 and when I saw it I could not figure out what color it was as it was kind of more gray or light black then jetglo black. Anyway, it was jetglo, just with a very light color. Definitely not the new midnight blue. I have seen the new midnight blue in person and these "grayglos" are very different than the midnight blue.

Wouldn't the Dark Slate Gray (DSG) be another collectors issue?
Might well be worth 4-5 grands??? :x

Let me re-phrase that. I hope its a new finish idea, and not a mistake. It looks real nice on a Rick.

I talked to RIC customer service and he did say a few got out. I guess it is like those purple bursts the came out awhile ago.

Cool Don! Sounds like you have a lucky find there. Hang on to that warranty card for proof that its a funky gray Jetglo (oh wait, that means it won't be under warranty then doesn't it!)

I wish I could see it in person!

So are these a Christmas present from RIC or did they throw them out there to see what the reaction is?

I posted on the RIC site and John Hall confirmed it was a "Grayglo" and they produced a few and got a good review from dealers but that they might not produce it again.

John, I think you have my number or email me and I'll bring it to Mandolin Bros or I'll give you my address.

There is a 360 in what appears to be that grayglo color at the Music Zoo:
