Turq S8 on the bay

Post by bassduke49 »

Simon Mole is the seller. Pretty hefty starting price, though:

Never seen another in Turquoise though so the price doesn't seem out of line at all (IMO).

I like the way the silk on the strings matches the finish.

Very, very nice, but with starting bid that high, plus the cost of shipping it to the USA...I'll pass.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

Maybe shipping would be cheaper by using the "Graham Griffiths' Courier Service" ... :)

I prefer white trim on Turquoise.

Hi all - I put a mention for this one in the For Sale slot.... yes its certainly a UK price! I'm afraid over here we just look longingly at the prices Rickenbackers go for in the USA. I think its about right for rainy England but I didn't see another recently to compare....we shall see........ My strict policy of only having basses to match my outfits means if it DOESN'T sell I have to buy a turquoise suit come the January sales - hmmm... some of the places I play that could mean violence.....

Gorgeous bass, Simon, I'm more than a little jealous.

May I also compliment you on your taste in DVD's - Spectrum is, er, Turqoise!

oh yes, an ebay loft clearout has thrown up some good stuff (they're actually kits of them there indestructable types, and also on ebay now!!!!!). And so with a bass guitar, Captain Scarlet toys AND three Rickenbacker jackets I think I represent your ONE STOP shop this Christmas.......... Underneath all the dusty Airfix and pictures of Queen Victoria I also found a long forgotten 16 track Soundcraft mixing desk up there from 1989, so don't knock it................

A one stop shop indeed! I wish my loft was as exciting...

Good luck with your sale, your Ric deserves to go to a good home.

Nice S/8. I agree that the starting price is reasonable. I've never seen Turq with Black plastic. Kinda cool. I might like Gold best with Turq, but the black looks good too(as does the white).

Good Luck, Simon.

I think Simon's price is perfectly reasonable. My fireglo S8 went for £1200 4 years ago on ebay. Bear in mind it cost me £1595 new! These things are really rare in the UK; I think I've only ever seen 4. Also bear in mind if buying one from the US we have to add around 25%+ to cover shipping, duty, etc. The other days I saw a 7 /10 '81 4001 Jetglo (completely average) for sale in a UK shop for £1395UK, and a new 4003 will set you back around £1100-£1200, so this is a relative bargain. If I had the money I'd snap it up; they're monster basses. Best of luck with the sale Simon!

I agree--the price is in line with value on this one.

I, too, prefer white guards on this bass. Gold (due to the size of the guard on a bass) is too intense with the turquoise; on a guitar it looks better.

This is a dream bass for me. If it was in the States I'd probably go for it. What would shipping add to the price?
