Yes, thanks, Paul, i couldn't remember who actually said it. 100 % agree with his words. 200 %! Respect is something that should be mutual in cases like that, imho.

I could go on a Christmas PC rant..... kids not allowed to sing Christmas Carols in school because it might offend non-Christians, trees and decorations not permitted........ but I won't. Why is it that we are virtually forced to respect the customs and rites of others yet we have to shut ours down in case they offend?
Aitch, I agree with you 100 percent! In fact, that is one of the saddest things I see happening during what should be a happy season-- Even Christians are afraid to say "Merry Christmas," lest they offend someone else--I think it is ridiculous, because even though I am a Christian I certainly would not be offended if a Jewish person wished me a "Happy Hanukkah!" That is why I refuse to say "Happy Holidays!" I think it is good to respect people's tradtions, whether Christmas, Hanukkah, Ramadan, or something else, but I refuse to deny my own traditions in the process. One of the final reasons Marc left his positon at the post office almost three years ago is because he was told he couldn't wish people "Merry Christmas." Marc, being Marc, said it anyway, much to the chagrin of the "Postmonster"....

Why is it that people who are "politically correct" want to deny the us the very freedoms they claim to defend in the name of "diversity?"

That reminds me of... well, suppose you eat meat and one of your mates doesn't (at the moment or at all). You've decided to make a party for all and call this mate among others, and he's the only one who wouldn't eat meat. If he says something like, "you know, i don't eat meat, could you please not offer me dishes with meat products to avoid confusion and embarrasment", it would be strange to force eating meat on him, right? But here we have another situation - it's as if that mate said, "you know, i don't eat meat, so you shouldn't eat meat in my presence either or have it in your house when i'm in, cause it offends me". Sounds strange, n'est-ce pas?

Agreed with Melissa, to the max. Walking on eggshells is no way to live...it puts all the power in the hands of whoever is most easily offended. It's not left, right, religious or secular...it's just a foolish and self-defeating philosophy.

Meanwhile, most people drive like jerks...which hints to me that being offensive is still very much in vogue.

Being respectful doesn't mean having to say Happy Holiday If You Happen To Celebrate One But If Not Please Disregard What I Said And Hope You Don't Sue Me!

Merry Crimble!

Gawd, I'd love to know just which PC twit thought this one up. Probably some uptight midlevel political bureaucrat with an overdose of feminist rage who has her bun wrapped a tad too tight.

This is more loony than Al Gore's movie. And THAT is saying something.
