The best cover version of a Beatles song?
The best cover version of a Beatles song?
The Beatles have been covered from their first album on, but what do you guys say is the best cover version of a Beatles song?
Here's my list of best Beatles covers.
Crosby, Stills and Nash - "Blackbird"
White Snake - "Day tripper"
Kiss - Beatles Medley (I love the harmony vocals on "Please Please me")

My vote is for The Mama's and the Papa's version of "I Call Your Name". They vamped it up and I think made it a better song than the original. That is my definition of a good cover (different and better).

Yes' version of Every Little Thing on their first album.

Alice Cooper's "Hey Bulldog" is a good play.

I liked this gal (Sophia Shorai) a lot---heard for a while she might release a cd of covers, but her web site says not any time soon..

Boringly obvious choice but it must be named: Joe Cocker's "A Little Help From My Friends".
My favorite was when I saw Robyn Hitchcock perform "Eight Days a Week" at First Avenue, replete with chiming Rickenbacker. Extremely good performance.

Teenage Fanclub's cover of Tell Me What You See is my current fave. This is a moving target for me so if this thread stays around I can post a different answer in six months.

Slow Down by the Jam.
Also, Holly Cole does a good version of I've Just Seen a Face.
And the Offspring do a fair cover of Ob La Di Ob La Da, but they call it Get A Job and changed the words.

I think my favorite is Joe Cocker's With A Little Help From My friends. He think he absolutely makes it his own.
Just make the time to play guitar!
