I know it was probably a lie. Am I wrong to keep it's hopes up?

Am I a bad person?
The other day I was sitting around playing guitar (my 12-string). I put it back in it's case, and pulled out the 6 string for a few minutes. Then I put that back in it's case and started to walk away. Then the guilt overwhelmed me, I went back, opend the case for my strat, apologized to it, promised that we would spend some time together soon & left the room.
I know it was probably a lie. Am I wrong to keep it's hopes up?

I admit - when I purchased my 366/12 a few years ago I played ONLY on her, everything, even when the comfort of a 6 stringer was required I couldn't stop enjoying the jingle janglish 12 strings rick sound...
After a while - it got into balance, so instead of playing only on my 12 stringer I now devide them fairly and equally:
95% of the time on the 366/12 and 5% on my Les Paul

So long and thanks for all the fish!

Frankly, i see nothing bad about it.
Nothing will get you dead quicker than being deadly serious about yourself.

It is always best to be honest to your lesser played guitars, Greg. They are usually pretty forgiving. And when they do get an opportunity to be played, they like to behave and even surpass their old tones. I have always been honest to my Les Paul and she suddenly stopped going all microphonic on me. Best to not pretend anything to your strat. Be honest. She will forgive you. You could never be a bad person for that.

Re: Am I a bad person?
I wound up selling off and giving away my beloved Fenders as I became increasingly "involved" with my Rickenbackers. I found that when I was playing electric live and was playing anything else, my "gee, I wish I was playing my Rickenbacker right now" was causing too many critical brain interrupts- so I had to switch to just playing those live. After obtaining more Rickenbackers, I found that I also didn't want to record with anything else anymore. I still have a great Buck Owens Tele that never gets played. I really should sell it- they've been gaining value.
I still have a few electrics that aren't Rickenbackers, but I don't play them. I guess I can't feel too guilty, since the real keeper (a ~1978 SD Curlee USA) is just too heavy for me to play much, and the other ones (aside from the Tele) aren't worth much.
One sad thing is that 90% of my gigs have been acoustic, and though I have some fantastic acoustic guitars I don't have any Rickenbacker acoustics. As great as my Taylors and National are, I don't have that freaky passion for them that I have for (and think I would for the acoustic ones) Rickenbackers.

Re: Am I a bad person?
I've been upfront with the two who don't get played much - I let them know why they were in the case and not on the stand in rotation!
I gotta say, since the 4001 showed up and I got the RIC tailpiece on it to replace the BadAss II, it is becoming my favorite (man, it has THE tone!) and relegating my firstborn 2004 4003 to getting dusty.
Oh, anyone need a plastic adapter plate for putting a BadAss II on a Rick?! Priced to move....
