I tried the Mini out at the local GC today. It does sound incredible (I played a Pedulla 5 string) for it's size. I'm not really sure I'd be comfortable with it for anything more than home practice though. I would think even a soft hitting drummer would overpower it. (IMO)

I have not had that problem yet, and Ivan is not a soft hitting drummer; it does get quite a bit louder with an ext. cabinet. It certainly won't compete with larger amps but what it does really is amazing. I bought mine for rehearsals and gigs at lower volume venues like coffeehouses and book stores. I don't expect it to work well at larger gigs except as a personal monitor on a stand and DI to the PA.

Cool little amp, Jeff. I wanted to try one of these out. Last time I was at my local GC (a couple months back), they had one of the 500W 12" Markbass combos(Mini CMD 121P?). Only 29 lbs! But I wanted to try the Minimark. One of the employees there told me he'd call me when they got one in, and last week I was astonished when he actually did! :) I haven't been able to get over to my GC to try it yet though.

I'm a little concerned about the Minimark's tone shaping options though. Doesn't look like it has any Bass, Treble or Midrange controls. Just a volume, the Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator, and the Variable Preshape Filter. Is that enough? (Somehow, something tells me your answer will be yes! :) )

YES!

I haven't found a need for any other EQ with the MM, but if neccesary I could always run through my Furman PQ-3 and then into the MM. You might want to get to that GC, my GC had just put the amp on display a couple hours before I got there, so no one else really had a chance to try it before I bought it!

Only at Guitar Center, and not at all locations. I'm pretty sure that you're limited to what they have in stock, too. They can't or won't order anything for you. Or at least, that's what my GC guys told me.

They were good enough to call me when they got a Minimark in, but I couldn't get into the store for a couple weeks and it was gone before I got there.

I play my Rics through a Mark Bass CMD 102P - fantastico! I'm convinced they designed this stuff specifically with Rickenbacker basses in mind. Great power, punch & clarity, yet so light (only 44lb)!

Christmas is a coming, & I'm dropping HEAVY hints to the wife, but what to go for? I'm looking at adding another speaker cab, either the STD 102HF (2x10 plus tweeter as in the CMD 102P), or STD 151HR - decisions decisions! :D
