352C64 fret marker dots
I just opened up my 325C64.
After playing it a bit I noticed something odd. It has to do with the fret marker dots - not the ones that go on the fingerboard itself but rather the small ones that are on the side of the neck so you can see them when holding the guitar in playing position. The odd thing is that there is a dot at the 10th fret rather than the 9th. The fretboard dot is at the usual 9th fret position. Was someone just having a bad day or was this a quirk of Lennon's guitar? I will try to post a pic tonight.

I had the bright idea to call RIC. They tell me that is definitely not how it is supposed to be. I will have to ponder whether I care from a playability standpoint, but let me guys ask you this question: Is this a plus or a minus as regards the value of the guitar?

And yes I know it is a 325 not a 352. Slip of the finger. Just noticed it.

Can't say what it does to the value, but it's got to be a 'one of a kind' 325 C. I would have a hard time parting with it just because of the rarity.

Thanks. That's really my question. Is this a cool unique thing or just a defect? I have one vote for cool.buzfluhart wrote:Can't say what it does to the value, but it's got to be a 'one of a kind' 325 C. I would have a hard time parting with it just because of the rarity.

It occurs to me that a lot more people will see this in the Guitars section, so I'm going to repost it over there. Would appreciate it if you would post any replies to that one.

Patrick,
Not sure what I'd do either. I can see the uniqueness angle, but on the other hand you've waited and paid for everything to be right...but then on your third hand, how long to wait for another one or a repair?
There's also the resale question....while I think most folks don't necessarily plan on selling their new guitars, circumstances change, and how might someone else value the flaw? And of course, you'd probably have to deal with all us wonks here who would insist it's a fake since "Ric would never have done that!"
Tough call, sorry I'm not more help...
