Oh, Susanna!

Post by melibreits »

Well, my dream guitar finally came in and I opened the case today after the mandatory northern-Minnesota-in-winter 24-hour waiting period....

BEAUTIFUL 350 SH! Although it is nearly 20 years old, the guitar is like new, except for a few smudges and fingerprints.... I will take some better pictures of the guitar after I take the time to give it a good rub-down with Zymol.

Anyway, I plugged it into my AC30 with the Janglebox--and had to turn the Janglebox off; this is the only Rickenbacker electric guitar I have that doesn't sound better with the extra compression--it has a perfect jangle plugged straight into the amp! It's a very bright sounding guitar, and the bridge humbucker absolutely sparkles.... And I love the heavier sound I get when the pickup switch is in the neck position....it really rocks and roars! The neck is thin and narrow, and feels perfect to play, just like I remembered when I tried one at the RIC 75th....

Here's a picture my son took of me playing it this evening.... Rockin' by the fireside!

I'm so glad my wonderful hubby let me open my Christmas present early! :D

She's a Beaut, Melissa. Congratulations.

Has anyone tried a Humbucker in the the neck position on a 350V63? Would the 21 vs. 24 fret neck affect the sound?

I don't know whether anyone has tried that combination in a v63, but at the RIC 75th, the aforementioned Ms. Hoffs played her 350SH which had been modified to carry 3 humbuckers and a 5 way switch. It sounded great!

Congrats!

Beautiful guitar from the pics....I was watching that auction as well, and the pics there certainly looked great.
