Rick 620 Doubleneck

That's quite good, Peter, I guess I should be glad that the car is located in Wenatchee WA and not in Synchroni City.
Seriously, the purchase of the guitars is not an issue, unless the California DMV does a number on my bank account when I take it in to get it registered ...

The Saga Begins...
Update: the DMV impact on the finances was bad, but not insufferably so. I have now purchased a 620/6 and a 620/12, both Midnight Blue, for this project (receipt is pending). I will be working on figuring out the cuts etc. in the next couple of weeks, and I may be able to start on the real work during the holiday, depending on whether I can get one of my friends to set up his table saw.

Yes, Kenny, even though it will be hard to put two beautiful MID 620s through a saw ... I'll have to work up the nerve to go through with this.
I do plan on documenting the steps, etc. in case it works out and someone else wants to try it.

The 620/12 MID arrived today, but I am still waiting for its soon-to-be conjoined six-string partner.
Don Adamek, the Forum's resident pickguard expert, has been kind enough to provide some pointers on the projected work involved in joining the guitars, and his input is duly noted.
I guess I need to start taking measurements...

John, I was aware of the 'Fantasy Rickenbackers' page, and I will be using that picture during my measurement and planning stage for comparison (offhand, I think the necks are a little too far apart on that one).
I will also be using some of Mike Parks' 362 pictures as well; I figure that RIC knew what they were doing with the neck spacing on their 6/12 doublenecks. I'll also be taking measurements on my 4080, just for comparison and completeness.

Gary,
Wow. I thought it took guts to add a tuner to a Ric! You are the MAN if you can pull this off! I will be eagerly awaiting pictures and stories. I'm particularly interested to see how the bodies are joined together and how the MB finish matches up.

Gary: Have you calculated the total weight of this guitar?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
