Thanks Wints, I knew it was worth more than my 73, but I didn't know just how much more. I'm just hoping it is a great player.
If it is, I'll get the chrome re-plated and just play the heck out of it.

The seller knows it is worth more and that he just wanted to get rid of it. He said he saw the 73MG on Ebay but didn't care. He just wanted it gone.
He said he is a guitarist, and the thing has been sitting there for years, unplayed.

I'm hoping all the good things you guys say about these old ones are true!

Tony, that bass has the original high-gain p/up in the bridge position, the h/s's went away sometime in '68.

Beautiful bass and a GREAT deal! I wouldn't restore much on that thing. Sometimes these things need to simply be what they are, and let them tell their tales.

I would definitely disassemble the bass, give it a good detailing, and put it back together with a good setup. I'm sure it surprises no one here that my OCD would force me to have the tailpiece re-chromed though.

I'm kind of in Dane's camp, my OCD will probably get the better of me, I LIKE CLEAN CHROME, but I'll follow your lead as of many of the other members and just leave it alone for now.

I will clean it up and see just how good the 'ol Scratch X & Zymol treatment will do.

I SHOULD have it by mid-week if all goes well.

I'll post some nice big, clear pictures ASAP.
