Rickenbacker 360/6 on it's way!

Hi all,
just thought I'd introduce myself to the forum since I registered a couple of days ago. I'm Steven from the UK, I've only been playing seriously for a few months and have wanted a Ric since before I started playing. After having gone through numerous guitars (far too many considering my amateur level of playing) I started looking for a semi-acoustic and remembered the Ric that I had fallen in love with...the 360! I love the jangly sounds of the Rickenbacker, it seems to have so many layers and so much depth compared to the guitars I have been playing, it's like the sound is magical! I am currently playing a Fender Mustang but my main guitar for the past 2 years has been a MIM Telecaster which I sold last week to help fund the Ric. To be honest, my small hands were no match for the 'C' neck on the Telecaster...
(apologies for the long first post...) But anyway, after deciding on a 360/6 in Blueburst I contacted a store about the length of time it would take to get hold of one, having read stories on the rickenbacker.com forum about some people having to wait 2 years To my surprise the dealer has been able to order it today and expects it to arrive within 2 weeks!! Joy!
So, my Fender Mustang may well be getting sold once the 360 arrives, I find the sound on the Mustang very much lacking in depth and sustain, it has a very thin sound. I will be sure to post pictures when my new guitar arrives, hopefully I will keep it for life as I really feel like buying a Ric is like joining a unique and special group of people

P.S. I'm a massive fan of The Smiths, although I haven't been listening to them all that long, each time I listen to their songs I hear more and more that interests and intrigues me!

Either you've been duped, or the dealer has had that guitar on order for a while, because Bluebursts have only been order-able in 2005...

Also, 2 weeks? where did he order it from???? a stock room somewhere? clearly not from Rick! Post pictures when you get it, I'd like to see what you end up with!

He said that he called up Rickenbacker on Friday (when I first enquired) and they had two of that model, then today when I asked him about he called them up again (whilst I was waiting) and said they now only had one....but I did call two different dealers and the other dealer said the exact same thing, but he could order it and have it within ONE week! a few dealers in the UK are saying this...these are not small time stores I'm talking about either, these are big, big guitar dealers in the UK.

I think the dealer meant that he phoned Rosetti (the UK distributor), they do keep some stock and quite possibly have one there just waiting for a dealer to call. Rosetti seem to take about a week to deliver stock items.

Ah yeah that's probably more like it, he said like a week and a half to two weeks delivery so thats probably right Thanks for that leftyguitars, I feel much more at ease now. If I think waiting two weeks is hard then I must consider those who have to wait months or years...I will definitely post pictures when the time comes though.

It's actually looking VERY promising indeed. If you check out the Rickenbacker site Rosetti have just had at least three BBR 360/6's sent to them!

I ordered from rosetti a 620 JG and when it arrived 1 week later. It had a paint defect on the body it looked like a section had a "Orange peel" effect on it.It looked rough anyway decided not to take it and picked up a 330 BBR instead but im saving for another 620.Leftguitars is spot on! 10/10. Oh and welcome to RRF.

That's great then, at least I know that Rosetti have the guitar. I have put down a deposit so that it's kept for me The place that I decided to buy it from was http://WWW.GAK.CO.UK and the guy who I spoke to was very helpful, definitely one of the most helpful shop assistants I have met, very polite and informative. I have to speak to him tomorrow because my application for finance was declined... but only because I have a cold and he couldn't understand what I was saying, so I've written the info down for him instead and we'll try again tomorrow, with my details spelled correctly!

Thanks for the welcome guys, it's much appreciated. Just out of curiosity, how long does it normally take to get your account approved on the rickenbacker.com forum? I tried registering last week but I've had nothing come through in my email (checked spam box) I noticed that Mr. Hall sometimes posts here too.

.Just a question are you anywhere near Guitar Guitar in Newcastle. I think I know the place you are talking about, the deal with GAK is probably done now though. The good thing about the deal I'm getting is that it's interest-free finance as there's no way I could scrape together the funds so near to christmas. Do you know if Guitar Guitar offer finance?

The Smiths rule. And Johnny Marr is my favourite guitarist by a mile. In fact, the first time I ever seriously wanted to learn to play the guitar was the first time I saw the video to This Charming Man with Johnny's JetGlo 330 stealing the limelight from the Moz's floral arm swings. Genius.

Oh, and don't worry yourself with the official RiIC forum - this is the orignal for the originals...
