Strap locks

Post by rikk »

I want to replace the old style strap plugs with Shaller strap locks. Out of the box the Shaller screw is way too small to fit in the hole. Does anybody know offhand the thred size of the old style strap plug, so I can put the Shaller in without mucking up the hole with an even bigger screw, thus eleminating ever going back to the original. I hope the above makes, I just got a lovly new Rick in today and I'm gitty as a schoool girl.

The threads for all rick strap pins/locks is 10/24 and is a machine screw type thread not a wood screw type. If you can't get the proprietary RIC schaller lock bolts you can use a schaller button with a 10/24 allen bolt that has had the head ground down some and the hole in the button drilled to 3/16". This was done to the black button shown below, you can see the ground down steel screw easily since it's not black.

I don't know the thread size offhand either but you can just order a set of new strap locks from the Ric boutique. They are a direct replacement for "old" style strap buttons. If you need a chrome set I have a like new set for 1/2 Ric price if you're interested. :D

Rikk, PM me with your mailing address and I will send you two screws; the only thing you will need to do is drill out the button.
