Hats of for Steve Harris!!!
Last saturday I visited an Iron Maiden Show in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Steve Harris plays so furious, lightningfast and tight........ This was my third Iron Maiden concert I've been, and it's still so much fun and inspiration to visit them. Altough we don't plays them live, he used to own several Ric's tough. Well who doesn't LOL.
If any of you have the opportunity to see Maiden on the road, grab them, and be amazed by Mr. Steve Harris!!!!

Beside owning 14 guitars and basses and my own homestudio, what do I want more?

I don't know about the Ric angle with Steve, but if you have any old Iron Maiden videos, go back and watch, "Run To The Hills", video. He's playing an Ibanez Roadster bass, I remember that they came two ways, a P-J pickup configuration and a dual P pickup configuration.
Another bass player that I knew back in the early 80's had a Roadster with the dual P pickup, it had a great sound and feel. I think the one that Harris is playing in the video is black with a P-J pickup configuration, white covers on the pickups. I don't remember how long he used Ibanez. He used Warwick at one time, the credits are on the back of one of their late 80's early 90's albums, the name escapes me right now, but I have it somewhere.

In the '83 World Piece Tour book is a listing of instruments they use. It says Steve Harris also (seemed) to use Ric's. Beside this he is also known for using Ibanez Basses, like the roadstar, and I have pictures of him using the Destroyer modelled basses. This model is a sort of copy of Gibsons Explorer. I think this one was used in the periods of "two minutes to midnight".
Nowadays, he only uses his old P-basses, and altough they look as new, there actualy from '71 and '73, both refinished in the colours of FC Westham United.
Some much for the Maiden-news......

Jon,
I've heard from a past-issue Bass Player magizine interview with Steve that at least one of his white P-basses (He has four that he brings on the road, all painted the same) was "facelifted" numerous times. First, it was black, then painted white, then black again, then blue with a mirror pickguard, then white with mirror pickguard.
IMHO, I think it would be great if he would start playing Rics.
