Canada Where Are You?
Ok, Canada. The time has come for you to step up to the plate and send in your Rickenbacker registrations to The Register. So check under your beds and in your closets but I am only interesting in hearing about your Rickenbackers.

I believe it is a little north of the US.

Re: Canada Where Are You?
I'll send you the info on my meagre collection when I get back from visiting Howard in Australia. Until then Aitch and I are waiting patiently cruising through the morning waiting for beer' o'clock time.

Re: Canada Where Are You?
Peter:
A dumb question from me, but I'm curious as to why you want people to register?
Outside of curiousity as to where all the Rick's ended up, does this registry help the authorities at all if someone's guitar is stolen or lost in a fire?
I'm at work right now (NFL radio stuff), so I can't register my two guitars at the moment.
Thanks,
Mick

Re: Canada Where Are You?
See, it WAS a dumb question. I just found your explanation in another post.
But, now I have a second dumb question. How, outside of an original receipt, does one prove that they're the rightful owner of a Rick? What if they sold it? How is that tracked? How is it determined who was the real owner before said guitar was stolen?
No, I didn't steal a guitar. I stole a plastic monster from a corner store in Calgary, Alberta way back in 1971, when I was 8, and I was so worried that the military police would drag me away (we lived on a military base), that I swore off the life of a hardened criminal, and have steered the straight-and-narrow ever since.
Thanks again,
Honest Mick

Re: Canada Where Are You?
Mick: I am sorry I did not notice your first question about the Register until this morning. It is, however, a good one.
This Register provides a wealth of information about the different models, when they were made, their popularity and distribution around the world. Our sample size is still quite small but as it grows it will become more accurate. As you have noted it does let us track and return stolen instruments as well and we have had one success story that we know of even in the short life of the Register.
A surprising number of instruments have changed hands since they were first registered and many current and previous owners have notified the Register to allow for updating. As with all things lost or stolen, proving ownership can be a challenge. One would have to believe that a thief would not knowingly register an instrument here, however, stranger things have happenedd in life.
While you are thinking about the Register, why not take the time to register you instruments as well. The more detail you provide in your registration the better should your instruments ever go missing.
