I'm the new owner of the '98 Red Laredo. I have always wanted a Ric 5 string and with Brian and Jeff's assistance this dream will come true via this impressive bass. Thanks to both of you.

but about 2000 I started buying more Rics, jazz basses, p-basses, Ibanez, Schecter, SX, Dillion, Fender, Dean, and various home-made basses ... I was up to over 20 at one point ... I can't seem to get under a dozen ...

Definitely keeping this one, too hard to get a Ric 5 string otherwise. Will bring my 'keepy' Rics to 4.

I keep the ones that 'fit me' and that's impossible to know until you play them. I've had one or two that just didn't feel right, yet they have suited others perfectly. I also had to quit one that was impregnated with tobacco smells and couldn't get it out quick enough for my pregnant, highly sensitive wife!

By taking the risk on importing Rics I have made a number of locals very happy with the basses that didn't suit me.

A win/win for everyone.

I'm in the same boat that Brian's in.....

I've gone through so, so many different Rics the past few years....I've enjoyed them all, the 4001's, 4002's, 3's, 4's and 5's

....but it's come down to this, I really, really dig the '07 4003 so much, that it is the only one I absolutely "have" to have. It sounds fantastic, is a great piece of work, and looks and feels great on me.

I can still see myself owning another Shadow and an old 4001v63 again, though.....but much later...

The new 4003's with the push-pull switch gives me all the sound I need, for now....

Speaking of MARF III...Are there any plans of this taking place? If so ...where? I've talked to Chris Clayton and he doesn't plan on hosting this year.

Chris has some 'big' plans of his own in 2008 that preclude having a Fest at the same time and place.

To be honest, it has never been an intention to have MARF as an 'annual' event....while the gatherings we have all over the country are fabulous and we have fantastic times, it can potentially prove to be somewhat expensive for some that come from far away for a day or two, only to have another event scheduled not long after in another region of the country that they may wish to attend. The confluence bug has bitten many here on the Forum, and that's not a bad thing.

MARF III will happen, but maybe later in 2008, perhaps the fall....we shall see.

I think there has been talk of moving it somewhere a bit closer to the midwest so that we can all drive a more equitable distance, somewhere like maybe, Charleston, W. Va., that seems to be a nice central location.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't at Pick of the Ricks again! I don't think you could ask for a better location.!
