I used to have a Hiwatt DR100 head and a Hiwatt 2x15 cab with my 4001 back in 1974. It sounded just great! I have often thought about getting a used DR 100 again but the only person that I know with one says it sounds really good but is forever having things replaced on it.
The idea that one can buy a 'new' Hiwatt 100 or the bass 225 that is built in the same way that Dave Reeves built my old one is very cool. Anyone here know if they REALLY are like the old amps?

There is a lot of info and some photos of the prototype on Talkbass. They are not inexpensive but it (the 225) seems to be something to seriously consider.
