4004LK neck adjustment question
I need to adjust the neck on the 4004LK. It's developed a bow that has raised the action. I guess it's just settled into it's new home. I'm a bit embarassed to say that this is the first non 4000/4001 that I've owned, so I just wanted to check what the best way to adjust the neck to a more flat profile is. I've been doing it the 4001 way for so long to avoid popping off the fingerboard, that I have no idea of how to do it on a later 4004 model. Is it the same procedure, or do I just whale away on the truss rods without fear of relocating the fingerboard into another zip code ?

I wouldn't "whale" on the truss rods but you can just tweak them a little, let it settle for a day then tweak a little more if needed (repeat as needed). You can still do it the old way if you like but it really isn't necessary.gareth wrote:I need to adjust the neck on the 4004LK. It's developed a bow that has raised the action. Also try to keep the bass in a room with a humidifier and set it for 35%. When the wood drys out it shrinks but the steel rods don't. This results in the neck bowing and the action getting higher. The opposite happens when the it gets really humid.

Gareth, no whales. Just little minnow-tweaks.

The new truss rods are VASTLY superior to the old ones. You will be surprised and delighted.
Tighten both 1/8 of a turn and you will see results!

OK, I've sawed it into three pieces for you to make it easier to ship in the box I have....phlemmy wrote:I think it's screwed up beyond repair. send it to me. i'll scrap it for you.
