Rickenbacker upright bass
Have a look at this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :middle:us
And there I was thinking that Ampeg invented the electric upright bass and this seems to be another rickenbacker first!
It looks like a new design and it in fact may date from 1935.......... Wow!
emac.

Wonder if it's a lefty
Re: Rickenbacker upright bass
I'll bet it goes high. You all will hate me for this, but from the wording it sounds like an inheritance, so it would be nice if someone emailed him and let him know just how rare and valuable it is. At least I imagine it must be. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, there was one at least one of these at the Museum of Making Music exhibit at the RIC 75th.
Cool artifact. I wonder what it sounds like.
I think the market will decide what its worth, Jason. You could email the guy and tell him that its valuable, but who knows how valuable?
Good luck, Gary!

Re: Rickenbacker upright bass
Seems dad's attic also contained a nice old Gibson banjo-also on the bay. The ad say's its from the 50's but just from what little I know, the headstock reads "The Gibson", making it much older I think!
Re: Rickenbacker upright bass
I contacted the seller through eBay right after I bid on it to let him/her know that it's a collectible and will probably sell high, and not to accept offers to buy it outright.
Charly G. needs this one!

Yikes! I forgot about this one ... it ended up going for $6643! Is "bluzhammer" someone here?
