ANOTHER FENDER "TRIBUTE" STRAT...

Re: ANOTHER FENDER "TRIBUTE" STRAT...
Okay, that was also a learning experience, but I'm not sure it is what I saw. What I meant was the finish of the instrument (probably polyester from your earlier post -
) is "ribbed" with the grain of the wood under it. Is that due to one, thin coat of color and then one thin coat of clear finish? Will something like that crack out in a short time? It was on instruments in the price range you mentioned.

Hard to say without actually seeing the finish in question. Venturing any guess is tough from a verbal description.

Who buys this sht?
Re: ANOTHER FENDER "TRIBUTE" STRAT...
Fair question, Rob............. Not you or me by the sound of it!
Re: ANOTHER FENDER "TRIBUTE" STRAT...
Paul, have you ever refinished a strat in CV or would you even consider assembling and finishing a frankenstrat? (sorry, I had to ask)

Thats a scary comment sheena have you ripped the heads off any dolls lately? Its the bit scratch its face, turn its clothes into rags just to later pretend it was a "relic" from your Granny's attic.Me thinks youve been watching too many horrors or have you been on the Fender site again!sowhat wrote:Intentionally scratching a brand new guitar to make it look old (especially at the factory) always seemed somehow strange to me (would you beat up a brand new car to make it look as if it survived many accidents, or tear hair off the head of a new doll which is supposed to be a present for your daughter's birthday, scratch its face, turn its clothes into rags just to later pretend it was a "relic" from your Granny's attic, etc, etc?), but to each their own... perhaps there's market for them, and that's why they are being made?

Yeah, of course. I'm not prejudiced. But right now I am backlogged. That word and "Rickenbacker" seem to go together, sadly...clearblue wrote:Paul, have you ever refinished a strat in CV or would you even consider assembling and finishing a frankenstrat? (sorry, I had to ask)
