Wasn't the novel Bowie's inspiration for Diamond Dogs?

Saw this with my girlfriend the 1st weekend, as she is a big Will Smith fan. It has horror movie aspects, so if someone you go with isn't into that you might want to warn them. Will Smith was interviewed on 60 Minutes where he noted that he and his agent came up with a plan for movies. They did a survey and found that animation/creature movies were the highest grossing. It is no surprise that Will Smith has been in a lot of those.
I've joked with people that my 1994 Chrysler Concorde (now my 2nd car) is famous now, as one of the "prominent" wrecked cars in the movie is a Concorde from 1994 or 1995. It is in plain view and partially smashed to the left of Smith in one of the street scenes.
The were times when Smith's character seemed too emotional and "spur of the moment" for a scientist, but it was still a good action/animation/creature movie.
