INTERESTING NEW GUITAR DESIGN
Seen in the new John Sayles film, "Honeydripper". It produces terrific sounds without being plugged in, but that's OK, because they'd probably plug it into the WALL, anyway:

Eeek! That guitar should have the word "Wheaties" written across it!

A nod to Bo?

Maybe an ironing Board!

Well, I've been wanting to get into luthiery for a while, I think I've found the ideal starter project!

I like this:
"The script noted that Sonny was a WW2 Radio Technician, and the pickups were odd, with exposed wires.
Crocker designed 3 two string pickups which sit in a recess with exposed windings and cloth wires. The pickup windings are saturated with lacquer to avoid microphonics and feedback and are SUPRISINGLY quiet (the cavities and routes are painted with black, conductive, shielding paint).
Taxi proudly donates a feather for mojo to every project that leaves the shop."

I like it too, John. The guy may not have sophistication, but he's got HEART, and lots of it.

Could this be used for the proverbial "paddle" that is always mentioned when talking of a certain creek?
I'm not much into the plank o' wood look! Firebirds and Thunderbirds included!

I have a weak spot for it. I think the weird pickup helps.
I also actually do like the Bo Diddly box guitar. Don't hurt me.

Re: INTERESTING NEW GUITAR DESIGN
The detail shots are pretty seductive, but not seductively pretty, if you know what I mean. But the whole object, with its Danish oiled Yankee woodbutcher body mated to an ill-disguised Epi neck, puts me off.
Should have had a less-cabinet-made body; something with some sanded-off paint in spots, maybe a couple of screw holes here and there, and a generally (dare I say it?) relicked look about it--discarding that too-glitzy neck and nastying it up a good deal--would have fit the story line better.
I'm a big John Sayles fan ("Brother From Another Planet" remains an all-time favorite), and he is good at getting the "feel" just right in his pics, but this one is just short of a high school production of "Porgy and Bess", IMO.
