Estimated Value of a 381/12V69 in Monty Brown

Post by RickenAxer »

I have a mint model 381/12V69 in Montezuma Brown, which I am thinking about listing on eBay. Any thoughts on estimated value?

I think we had better see pictures of that one in order to form a proper opinion (any excuse is a good excuse). Every time I see a listing for a nice 381/12 I start looking at my '85 rosewood Tele hanging on the wall and thinking "Your days are numbered." I need another twelve like I need another hole in my head, but one of these days....

Michael, there's a specific section on the forum here entitled "Rickenbacker Appraisals". Perhaps Peter M can move this thread across?

Meanwhile, in the absence of photos I'd say your 381V69-12 in Monty Brown is likely to be worth somewhere between $2500 to $3000. Monty Brown is a desirable finish being available as Colour of the Year in 2003 and now no longer available.

I think Darren's range is bang on. I was going to say $2200 to $2500 but that's before I factored in the price increase. I don't think you'll find a buyer immediately (it's a high end guitar going for a decent chunk of cash) but that won't be because the asking price is unfair. Just give the guitar time to find its buyer.
