New old stock tuners for my Ricky-rethink bass

Post by blazer »

I guess you guys can all remember the bass I made using the neck of a Hondo rickenfaker (what a POS bass was that man...) Well today I did a cool deal on some old tuners coming from a Silvertone bass. I need to plug the tuner holes and re-drill them though.

Because I had to take the nut out you can see that the Hondo used to be "fire-faux"

I've noticed those tuners Silvertone used before. I think they might be the same ones that RIC used.

If you center the posts in the holes, you might be able to hide excess hole with grommits. I have a beat to hell '75 that was drilled out to take large patents (like Fender uses) and was able to hide the holes with '70s vintage RIC grommets. While not perfect it does work pretty well.
