BFTP27
Here's this week's for those who want to play along.
This is probably my favourite solo Lennon song.
The act performing it was very successful in UK/US in 60's for a while but as part of a group.
This is taken from a solo album released in late 80's. possibly early 90's without checking.

Player working normally now so just click on file and select play tab

Re: BFTP27
Back after a week away, and totally mystified... (and I wouldn't have guessed last week's if I had been here!)
Re: BFTP27
Roy: This was a very special moment and I want to thank you for sending this song along. My guess is in.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Re: BFTP27
Either this one is proving difficult or this BFTP has run its course perhaps.
There again perhaps everyone still in holiday mode.

Re: BFTP27
I can't figure out who it is either. Hey what happened to BOTV's Roy? #9 Dream was always my favorite solo Lennon tune.
Re: BFTP27
Yes No Nine Dream probably a close second for me.
BOTV I felt had run it's course, each week fewer people took part so I assumed that interest had waned.
Will try and start something on a similair vein in New Year, I enjoyed it and thanks for support.
Goes without saying really but Best wishes for new Year to everyone on all the Forums.

Re: BFTP27
I tried to put my guess in the other day, Roy, but IE crashed on me and I was intent on sorting that and some other glitches out and promptly forgot about it! My guess is in.
Re: BFTP27
Hmmm........ incorrect guess and now I'm stumped!
Re: BFTP27
It's an hour before New Years, haven't been drinking, don't know the act and I'm becoming perplexed. Maybe because it's party night and I'm doing this. My (wrong) guess it in. Maybe we'll get a second hint for New Years!
Re: BFTP27
I hope Roy does not mind a comment at this point in BFTP27. I believe that it will be little or no value in assisting anyone who is still pondering their response.
The human voice changes in tone over a couple of decades and as such a recording of an artist's voice in the 1980s is bound to sound somewhat different than it did in the 1960s. For the most part, this is a recognition memory task which is asking our brain to compare not apples with oranges but perhaps Macintosh with Delicious varieties.
I would argue that what makes this task so difficult is that we are scanning our memory bank of original artists' voices to find a suitable sample to compare with the mystery voice. As with so many recognition memory tasks, auditory or visual, our first choice is often the closest to the truth. Given enough time, we often times talk ourselves out of the right answer.
When we have far far too much time on our hands, we come up with posts such as this one.

Re: BFTP27
I agree 100%,I only recognized The Monkees after it was revealed who they were, Davy Jones singing, maybe? Which would further throw me off.. Also musicians usually become more mature as they age and styles can also change and mature.
