Yeah, I just threw it in the Beatles section....figured there'd be some interest.

It's interesting to hear but I found it kind of dull and muddy in tone. I respect the Beatles for what they are as a group and the songwriting, production and whatnot but just never really understood the ga-ga over them individually as groundbreaking players. Not that there is anything to criticize and I'm not implying they aren't good.....I just don't hear anything that blows me away.

Then again, I listen to Motorhead so maybe my hearing is off.......

McCartney vs. Lemmy. Just goes to show how versatile a RIC bass is.

There is a cut of Donna Lee with jaco, miles and Bird connected to a Jamie Abersold rythmn section, too cool.

The Beatles is a good example for a band that was better than the sum of each member's qualities.
However - IMHO Paul was the finest bassist of all times, checkout the bassline in something, it always makes me shed a tear.

Really enjoyed watching and hearing that Gil! I've read from more than one source that Paul really had to sell the bass line to George as he wanted something different and more simple for his song. He kept humming it to Paul with little success. We all view it as a classic bass line today, especially with the interplay of the solo guitar and bass in the bridge, but George was apparently less than enthralled at the time.
I was really hoping Eric Clapton would have let Paul play the bass and his famous bass line on "Something" at "Concert for George" but it didn't happen. He was relegated to acoustic for the song, but did do the upper vocal harmony, as I believe he did on the original recording.
