Last night was NYE and The Zoo has a Downtown Festival. There is a park and about 9 churches surrounding it, and as a night of fun and clean entertainment they have live acts from all over the continent come and perform. For a $5 button, you can watch as many events as you can get to. We watched a Celtic trio perform Shanua, and from Toronto an a capella group called The Essentials who were just fantastic, an Elvis impersonator (caught a couple tunes as we were early to the next event), but what really did it for me was a German beer-hall style band called Ein Prosit. Ever done the polka in the church aisles?! They had 7 alphorns among all the other great players on stage (actually altar). Now I want one!

I figured I'd sit in the chair in the living room and have it go down the hall! They are just so cool and sound great. I also figure I could be out on the deck on a warm summer's eve, bwoooooooooo..........

In April we had a Long weekend in Geneva and had a go at one of these Alp horns they are really loud.I think you` d need to wall mount one of those bad boys and your friends would expect a blow when they`d see it (IF youll pardon the pun)

The ones we heard at the church (very tall, narrow, and long hall) and the horns were blown sideways in the hall, and they really filled the space. Even with just 3 players after the 7, it was prodigious.
