I wasn't aware that a 660 model existed until I joined this forum. I only thought there was a 620 and 650, so I am just learning about the differences. But yes a 660 in blueboy might be really cool. And I appreciate the thought. I just want to be upfront with you however, I am a new parent and the holidays just passed and I only have at the moment $1100. I hope I can find a way to pull together extra cash if needed. I guess I could see about a credit card. Anyway I hope its something that I can make work but I don't want to mislead you. The 660's are wonderful guitars. It'd be something of a different guitar from your 620, though - wider neck and vintage toaster pickups. It also has all the cosmetic "goodies", namely checkered binding, full-width inlays, and gold plastic parts.

This is ridiculous. This is happening often. Its a shame really and a sad story. It sucks to lose an instrument especially one that has significant importance. I don't know that there isn't much that Rickenbacker can do about it, but its about time some of these dealers start getting suspensions. Suspend their ability for new orders until they clean up their behaviour.

I have a brand new COY AFG 650 Colorado. I paid $1499. Its never been played. It has a killer finish. Its perfect.

I will offer this as trade fodder to get a BlueBoy. Hopefully we can pull together everyone and find a someone that will trade their BlueBoy for My AFG 650.

It would be nice to get John Hall involved and get Rickenbacker to build something but I am sure this type of issue is low low low on the radar for Rickenbacker.

with all due respect to your disappointment, I may have missed some facts but ...

1. You did not put down a deposit for this guitar, it appears (am I correct?). If so, then really, you had no guarantee or assurance of anything... words are nice but I guess I just wouldn't expect any dealer to reliably hold an instrument without a deposit and some concrete terms.

2. Lesson learned, if you don't have a firm deal, don't sell things you care about to leverage something that may not happen.

Again, very sorry for your hassle, but it appears to me that you may have banked a lot on just some conversations, where putting down a deposit at least gets you some firmer footing.

If you did put a deposit down, sorry I missed that detail.

Yes you did miss some of the conversation. #1 I offered a down payment was told it was "uneccesary" #2 Of course lesson learned but I was not a forum member. I was simply a consumer. In my mind the dealer was the "expert" I was not privy to the information that many now know. I did not know that Rickenbacker dealers acted inappropriatley. I expected the same kind of customer service that I recieved from the competitions dealers i.e. dealers.

I understand what your saying and it makes sense if your more than just a "casual" rickenbacker enthusiast. I love rickenbackers don't get me wrong. But I didn't know the first thing about them. I owned one and I tried to buy another one. I contacted dealer after dealer and waited for a long time. I was phoned by a dealer multiple times, not the other way around. I was being called and given "status" on "my guitar". How was I supposed to know where it would end up after all the guidance and seemingly "pro" support?

I caught the bug. I wanted a guitar and I had a determination to own it. I became consumed with the idea and I foolishly sold something to fund this new instrument. It didn't work out for me. In hindsight I should have known. But I trusted a Certified Rickenbacker Dealer because Rickenbacker trusted them to sell their instruments. Lesson Learned.

I still believe that this is an important discussion. Its important because I believe others should be aware that dealers are not operating ethically and its increasing. The business of rickenbackers out the back door is at an all time high.

If you are just an everyday consumer/user of rickenbackers and you don't belong to a rickenbacker community such as this one then your chances are quite high that you could find yourself with a similiar if not worse outcome.

I could name the dealer and give more information that would harm the dealer but that is not my objective. I know this person has a family. I have thought about spreading the word all over the internet forums, but ultimately that could affect negatively on rickenbacker. Again not my objective. I kept it simple and hopefully without damaging anyone. I hope it just gave a "heads" up to some.

I wasn't looking for anything from anyone. I no longer own a rickenbacker and I am disappointed of course. I hope to someday own another rickenbacker and thanks to so many of you who have decided to help I believe "it won't be long now"---- come on sing, killer beatles song.

I am still on my search and I appreciate all the leads everyone is giving me. I have not found a nice 6 string just yet.

But. I did find a really sweet 360/12 Amber Fire Glow Brand New. I wanted to give a heads up to someone. It has a great price(oldprice). I would be all over it except a 6 string is more my thing.
