He does have an uncanny resemblance to Paul W.!

Brian, it looks like an early '70s 4001, triangle inlays, 1/2" toaster spacing, etc.

He's the minister of the Environment, Water Heritage and the Arts. Quite a change of vocation eh?

The Hon. Peter Garrett AM MP. http://www.environment.gov.au/

Great live band. Incredible energy. I saw them on their Diesel and Dust tour and then again on their last US tour a few years ago.

Martin Rotsey played a 360F/12 with the Oils early on.

Howard - is he the Minister of the Environment or a "sub-minister"? I thought I heard Garrett got in a bit of trouble over something he said during the election which resulted in him being given a lesser post.

Steve: Peter Garrett was the opposition spokesperson and therefore 'shadow minister' for the environment prior to the election. He put his foot in his mouth a few times during the campaign and there was quite a bit of speculation as to whether he would retain the portfolio in government. He did just that and had the "yartz and 'eriitage" bits added.

Probably signed a few things for the PM and arranged some free tickets to gigs for the rest of the cabinet...........

The bass tone in that vid is pretty cool. I had heard that Garrett had moved on to a career in politics. Apparently it is true.

I love Midnight Oil.
I saw them twice on the Diesel & Dust tour. The first one was the week the album was released in a place that held about 2000. Everyone knew all the songs and sang along with all the old stuff, too. Pure mayhem all night. Rob Hirst playing a percussion on a corrugated steel culvert, the whole band - the whole audience- just dripping in sweat. It was one of the best concerts I have ever seen, top 5 probably. The next time was several months later after they had a monster hit with Beds are Burning at an arena with 10,000+ who only knew the one song. The audience was reserved, no energy at all. You could tell the band were getting annoyed. As they came out for the encore, Garrett said 'We're going to play some songs that most of you have never heard before' and played Power & the Passion, US Forces and What's so Funny 'Bout Peace Love & Understanding by Elvis Costello, and I was dancing on my seat.
Here's one with a 360.

A quote from Garrett that I still use - "the rich get richer, the poor get the picture...".
