Wanted

Post by bassduke49 »

Perhaps this isn't the place for this, but I'm on the lookout for a natural quilted-front Cheyenne II with contrasting headstock wings for my collection of Ricks. There was one on ebay back in September, but I didn't win that one. Just thinking there may be forum members willing to sell/trade for theirs. Anyone in the market?

Sorry guys, but I'm not parting with mine (the one from ebay in Sept.). After seeing what Ric is currently producing, I am even happier that I grabbed the one I did, as the new ones just don't have the depth of character in the wood, and the all maple headstock is just too plain for me.

Good luck in your quest!

PS. Anyone got a highly figured 4002 they are willing to part with? Oops, no cash at the moment, that one will have to wait!

Yeah David, the least you can do after posting such a description that would make the heart of any true Rick bass fan skip a beat, is post some pics of the beauty.

I think the new natural 4004cII is a real let-down. It's way too plain looking. It's just screaming for a black pickguard.

I disagree Erik, I think the clean modern look is a nice change. It makes a nice alternative look from the classic 4001 / 4003 vibe. Especially that the 4004Cii5 doesn't even have any pickup surround hardware. The pickups on that bass are mounted on screws that go through the back. I think it gives the bass a nice look.

Joey, I agree with you that the clean modern look is nice. I like the look of my blue 4004cii and the red and green ones on the Rickenbacker website, but I haven't seen too many other modern basses from other manufacuturers that are natural maple with no figuring. Most of the natural ones are quilted, flamed, or have a pickguard of some type.

How about one a spaulted maple or even buckeye burl top? That would look amazing!

Erik, after seeing the blue 4004's that you and Tom just got and some other 4004 basses that some guys here have, makes me even more anxious about getting my red 4004Cii5

My 4004Cii has very nice flame to it, but in certain lighting conditions they can look like they have no figure in it.ImageImage

Thanks Jerry. This was how the 4004Cii looked when I first got it; now it sports toasters and will soon have a chrome bridge on it, thanks to Jeff Rath. Other chrome hardware will be forthcoming this new year.
