I'm counting three Ricks

Re: I'm counting three Ricks
Yeah I count three as well, but I wasn't sure about the 3rd until the very end. Was the third one a short scale? It may have been the lighting, but it looked like a FG with a gold guard.
Re: I'm counting three Ricks
That was awesome. I think the third one behind the bass player was a Capri. Check out the ears at the body/neck joint. I have to watch that again.
Re: I'm counting three Ricks
Hard to tell but the body thickness almost looks like a Capri.

Nice sound.

Re: I'm counting three Ricks
This would have been around 1993. The guitar McGuinn had didn't have the compressor on it, and the Janglebox didn't exist then. How was McGuinn getting that jangley sound? Was the Ric-O-Sound unit around in 1993? Could that be it?
Re: I'm counting three Ricks
I thought the RM-370/12 string was manufactured beginning in 1989. Am I mistaken?
2. The Ric-O-Sound is merely a splitter box as I understand it, similar to the Boss AB-2 two way selector. (I may be oversimplifying here. But I think I have the general idea about right) The point is, that kind of gizzmo won't have much of an effect all by itself on the sound of one's guitar.

Re: I'm counting three Ricks
You are correct that the Ric-O-Sound just splits the signal, but the Ric-O-Sound jack is wired so that it also splits the pickups, which gives you a sound that it is otherwise impossible to achieve. We are not technical guys, but this is discussed elsewhere in this forum, as per in the link below.

Those are toasters on his guitar, which are more jangley than high gains, so together they might (?) do the trick. We're just not sure that (1) the Ric-O-Sound existed then (2) that McGuinn would have had it at all, or (3) if he would have used it live.

I love that tune.
But to be honest, if I didn't see it, I would not have known that it was a Rick bass.
I guess I'm used to hearing a Rick bass like Geddy and Chris.
Great video though.

His RM has the onboard compressor unit.

Grayer, heavier, new liver, and a whole lot of good music since "back in the day."red_rob wrote:David Crosby hasn't changed a bit has he...
Question - anyone else have and really enjoy "Thousand Roads"? Do I even have to mention "If I Could Only Remember My Name?"
