MusicYo Steinberger copies are the crappiest ever. Hohners are much better quality. I ordered a very used Hohner G3T from eBay, and it is a well built guitar. The Steinberger licensed parts are supposedly exact duplicates. I think you can order Hohner parts for your Steinberger and give Ed the middle finger on his jacked up Steinberger prices, or get an old G3T and scavenge parts. The guitar had lots of wear, but still played good. Some people prefer the Hohners over Steinbergers because of the wood bodies and necks. The pickups can always be upgraded. Ed wants $500 for a Hohner G3T, but you can get them at lots of other places for $400.
Everything was still working OK on the old G3T, but I sent it back because it just had too much wear from hard use. The pots and switches worked and sounded like new ones, so Hohner uses quality hardware. The Steinberger licensed tremolo still did a really decent job. It's a great little guitar for $400 new, and I might go that route, but I'll probably get a stick bass first. The used eBay prices seem a little high as they are still a hot retro item right now. I seriously doubt they compare to my ReBop, and used Euro Spectors can be had at VERY reasonable prices, compared to Rickenbackers and Steinbergers, in spite of their incredibly high craftsmanship. Probably because new Spectors are more available.
