And a couple of nice Rics pop up:

I know the bidder on the 8 string for over 42 years. Don't play with him, he's serious;-)

The V63 looks to be in really nice shape for an 86.

Gee, my bid on the 8 string lasted about 10 minutes.

I really would like a Rick 8 string bass too, I just have this personal adversion to the first few years of the 4003 basses.
Should I, shouldn't I....

I dunno. The 8 string list for a high of $1100 in Vintage Guitar Price Guide. Looks like this one's gonna go higher than that.

I think I'll wait for the next one.

I find that the Vintage Guitar Guide is a little conservative when it comes to RIC basses.

I would love to pay $900 for a tuxedo 4003 but alas-none to be found.

The last 8stringer went for $1250+ and it was a 4008 not 4003S/8. VGG lists a 4008 for $700...

Now if I can get a 4003/5 Shadow LTD Ed Spirit of 76 RIC Anniversary model hand delived by Chris Squire/Sir Paul/Geddy Lee/Roger Glover thru UPS no damage...

Happy New Year!!!

MMM, MMMM, MMMM.....Ain't that a beauty! And in MapleGlo no less..But since the auction has 9 days left and its already over 1K, I expect this one to go for around $1400....just a guess.

Joey,
I had an 82 Rick 4003s in AzureGlo and it was a great bass. I would have no reservations in getting another one! In fact, I wish I still had that one! But in its place came my '73, so I can't complain.

I bidded on this 4008 up to $945. I won't go further for this one. I'd go higher for a 4003/S8, or even for a 4008 but in better condition.

Cheers,

Yeah that hickey on the upper curve doesn't do it for me.

Although I'll take for $800!

Yeah, if I could have got it, I guess I'd have it refinished into a killer JetGlo, probably.

Cheers,
