Astral Traveller

I have Sirius satellite radio and enjoy listening to the vault. (they play some cool sh*t).

I just heard YES's "Astral Traveller" and once again Chris's lines and tone just make me shake my head. The talent/vision this guy had back then just baffles me.

Question: I dont have this album, I know its some of their earlier work, who played guitar on Astral Traveller? I'd bet the farm that its not Steve Howe.

That would be Peter Banks and "AT" is one of his best works, IMHO!

I'd pay a pretty high price to see that lineup come around for a short tour doing just the first two albums along with any others that they played up until "The Yes Album".

"The Prophet" with the great organ intro by Tony Kaye, as well as Pete's jazz lines, still great to this day! Yes could dust off "Survival, Looking Around, Astral Traveller, Prophet, Beyond & Before" or a few others for the 40th anniversary and that would be fine with me (and I'm a huge Steve Howe fan).

Yea, and Chris with the MG 21 fretter! Notice that Pete Banks looks a lot like Steve Howe in that video! (Just like on the cover of "Tima and a word")

wow! pete's got some chutzpah! love it...personally would love to hear him featured on the 40th,even if only for a few songs. "every little thing" and "i see you" were the first 2 yes songs i ever heard-they were pretty heavily played on wmc fm-100 back in '68/69. and if you can find it,check out pete's instrumental remake of "astral traveller"-it's on a cd compilation of yes tunes done by other artists,and it is killer!

Thanks for reminding me, Woody. I have that CD and just put it in the player. It's called "Tales from Yesterday" and was put together by Steve Howe (I believe) in the mid 1990's. Some interesting versions there, Robert Berry, Annie Haslam, Steve Morse and more...
