an interesting attempt...but some aesthetic fine-tuning would have done much for the final result (those pups and the 4000 series tailpiece aren't doing it for me...or the tuners).

I remember seeing that bass on ebay this past summer.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!
Re: Now HERE is what I wish RIC would produce!
I had one kind of like that back about 1974. only mine was fretless and made from a 1958 mapleglow Capri (what an idiot....if only I had just stuck it under the bed and left it there).

I really like it...

I do too, Steve. I'd like to see a closeup of the tailpiece though. And why didn't he use toasters?

I liked Joey Vasco's idea of a 381 bass, but I'm not cutting either of mine up to make one.

That one does hurt....teb wrote:I had one kind of like that back about 1974. only mine was fretless and made from a 1958 mapleglow Capri (what an idiot....if only I had just stuck it under the bed and left it there).
Fine if you like short scale, but it doesn't really work to my 4 string eyes, and that's before we get into how it sounds...
Re: Now HERE is what I wish RIC would produce!
Emg HBs actually a fine pickup (they are mini "P" pickup inside) and have a fairly honest sound, but best belong in the L2 steinberger that they were designed for.
Yes he should have used toasters or High gains (what would a horseshoe look like on this bass?)
However I like where the pickups are placed on this bass.....
emac.

Sorry, not for me. As far as Rics go I'll stick with the 4000 Series basses.

That's what I want to see.
No, Triple horseshoes! And I've got just the bass for it. My '79 4005!
See you guys later. I'm going down to the basement to get my Dremel tool.

Personally I find that bass to be ugly as sin.
