Maple/Black 4001-3s?

Post by joebassist »

Did they ever make a 4001 or 4003 Mapleglo with black pickguard, hardware and binding?
Strange, I couldn't log in to my old account, haven't been here in a while, had to create a new one. Surprised this name wasn't taken.
Thanks,
Joe

Yup! Mapleglo actually came standard with all black hardware from about '85 'till the early 90's. This would be the 4003's only - I believe the only 4001's with black plastic were White and Walnut/Autumnglo ones.

Joe,

Here's one on Ebay, really nice woodgrain, kind of expensive.

Wow that was fast, anyone else think that's the hottest color combination known to man? 8) Sharp! yeah that's pricey but that seller seems to always list things a bit over what they're worth I think.

There were a few jetglos with black plastic as well. I know of 2 79s and one 80.

I believe 4001 Mapleglow = White guard originally. I do think it's a great color combo and just as good with white binding and chrome. How bout doing what I did-go get a white guard/binding Mapleglow and add the black guard. Looks even better facing the wrong way

That 2002 MG/BT sure was a beauty, eh, Jeff? I've lost track of who has that one now. I bought it on eBay from a guy in Indiana (IIRC), then sold it to you, then you sold it, and I think it has moved on from there at least once.

I am also a happy member of the '85 4003 MG/BT club. It took a while to grow on me but now I love it.
