Gretsch Brian Setzer Tribute

Post by wittyair »

Anybody seen the Gretsch Brian Setzer tribute guitar.....model 6120SSC? It's got a list price of $30K and only 59 of them were made. I just bought one for a pretty decent price and I was wondering what everybody thought of it.

When I first got into the Cats, I really liked Setzer's guitar that the replica is modeled on(still do).I looked up the Setzer replica online when it first came out. It's pretty cool, but 30 K is a lot of money for any guitar IMHO, so I'm glad you got yours at a pretty decent price. I'm not personally into relic style guitars, or even replica guitars of those owned by Setzer(or Joe Strummer), but I AM glad that players that I admire, who are outside of the traditional "rock guitar god" field, have their talent acknowledged in such a fashion :D. I have too have a 6120; a `55 RI Chet Atkins Nashville Western with Dynasonics and a Bigsby. The early Gretsch Nashvilles, and the RI models are among my favorite guitars. If you like the guitar, and it's worth it to you, I say be happy! One of my favorite parts on the Setzer model is the black cat sticker on the body. Congratulations on your Brian Setzer replica, and enjoy your guitar!

Dan's Guitars in Wisconsin has a used one in excellent condition for $8995 with all the paperwork. They are a great shop that is extremely easy to deal with. They will treat you right.

Well, folks......as is often the case, I now find it necessary to divest myself of that particular guitar. If you know of anyone who might have an interest, please let me know.

That photo is really cool. The inclusion of a copy of "Rant N' Rave" in the photo is a nice touch. I have copies of the first two imports, as well as "Built For Speed" and "Rant N' Rave", along with the first reunion album "Rock Therapy" on vinyl. the only bummer about CDs and MP3s is that there's no more of the big covers and cool sleeves, much less the occasional posters, as was the case wih albums.

Back on topic; $8995 is pretty good for a Setzer model. Still not really my thing, but as cool as it is...

Now if they only threw in a pair of pegged pants to match the guitar, like Brian's wearing in the album photo.
